Gal Oya Boat & Elephant Safari

Sri Lanka's only national park boat safari

Tour Overview

Gal Oya is Sri Lanka's best-kept wildlife secret. The vast Senanayake Samudra reservoir sits at the heart of the park, and from a silent catamaran you can watch wild elephant herds swim between islands — a spectacle found nowhere else on the island. This 3-day expedition combines morning boat safaris with afternoon jeep drives through dry-zone jungle to encounter leopards, water buffalo, axis deer, and hundreds of waterbirds. With far fewer visitors than Yala or Udawalawe, every sighting feels truly wild.
