Can you do a safari as a day trip from Colombo?
Yes, though it involves a long day. The closest realistic options from Colombo are parks in the cultural triangle direction, such as Minneriya, or a very early departure toward the southern parks, both involving several hours of driving each way.
What a day trip actually looks like
Expect an early morning departure, a multi-hour drive to the park, the safari drive itself, and an equally long return, often totalling ten to twelve hours or more door to door.
Is it worth it?
