A different kind of safari
Gal Oya National Park is built around the Senanayake Samudra reservoir, Sri Lanka's largest, and is the only park in the country where a boat safari is a central part of the experience rather than a jeep-based game drive.

The drier months generally bring better visibility and easier wildlife spotting. Gal Oya sits in the island's east, making it a natural stop between the cultural triangle and the east coast beaches around Trincomalee or Arugam Bay.
